The pleasure of feeling at home
In Formello, just a few minutes from Rome, Il Calibro was born from the wish to turn a dream into a place to share: a home where you feel welcome, rediscover the pleasure of simple things and enjoy hospitality that cares for people and for the environment.
We are two biologists, brought together by a love of nature and a curiosity about the world. After travelling and getting to know different places and cultures, we chose to create a project that reflects the way we live: with care, respect and love for what surrounds us. We speak five languages and will be happy to welcome you and make you feel at ease, whatever your journey.
Ours is a newly built house, made with green building methods, with wooden ceilings that give the rooms warmth and character. The five bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, are designed to offer comfort, quiet and a space of your own to rest after a day of work or of exploring the area.
Outside, a garden of about half a hectare is part of everyday life at the house. Here an organic vegetable garden, many unusual plants, fruit trees and our hens, free to roam the garden, live side by side. Almond, peach, plum, apple, pear, fig, pomegranate, apricot, lemon, mandarin and avocado trees show, season after season, the richness and variety of what the land can give us.
For us, respect for the environment is not just a principle but something we try to put into practice every day. From the organically grown vegetable garden to the eggs from our hens, we pay attention to where the food on our table comes from and to the value of natural resources. The house also has solar panels for hot water and a photovoltaic system, so that we use energy more mindfully.
The day begins with a carefully prepared breakfast: the cakes are homemade and, when available, there are also eggs from our hens and produce from the garden and vegetable patch. We like to follow the rhythm of the seasons and let nature and its little surprises inspire what we offer.
Il Calibro is all of this: a home looked after with passion, a garden to enjoy, genuine flavours and a sincere welcome. A place to take a break without going far from the city.
